What It Takes To Play College Sports

“Give back. Be a good example. Play the game the right way. Graduate. Lead your community.” Augustana University Head Football Coach, Jerry Olszewski has the right idea about what it means to be a student-athlete. He recently sat down with USA Today High School Sports to talk about what it takes to play college sports at the next level. Coach Olszewski also shared advice for student-athletes navigating through the recruiting journey. He says, “College recruiting is a process. Do your homework and be proactive. Every student-athlete experiences recruiting differently. Embrace the uniqueness of your own process and don’t worry about what is going on with the recruit next to you.” He emphasizes an ideal recruit isn’t just a stellar football player, but also a well-rounded young man with character, too. If you are heading into another high school football season and thinking about trying to play college football, read Coach Olszewski’s interview.
