Volleyball Tips: How To Serve A Volleyball

Former college volleyball player and CoachUp coach Lok-Tin Yao shows how to serve a volleyball. After tossing the ball over your head, you want to whip your arm forward while rotating your hips, hitting the ball with the bottom of your palm of your hand.

Hi, I’m Lok-Tin Yao, former collegiate volleyball player and CoachUp coach. And this is the serve. The importance of a good serve is to offensively attack the other team. So the first thing is having a good toss so you wanna have your left arm out in front and then toss it above your head. And then, as you swing, you wanna step forward with your hips and then whip your arm forward. Alright, and then on the contact, you wanna contact with the base of your palm.
