Softball Tips: The Hitting Routine

Former University of Southern Maine first baseman and CoachUp coach Jesse Hutchins shows her hitting routine. Her routine involves stepping into the box, looking at her bat, and getting comfortable in the batters box.

Softball Tips: The Hitting Routine Hi I’m Jesse Hutchins, former USM first baseman and CoachUp coach. And this, is my hitting routine. Hitting is a very pressure-filled skill, so having a routine to calm you down prepares you for any pitch that might be thrown. So for my hitting routine, I start out by putting one foot in the box. After that, I spin the bat and I find one spot to look at on the bat. My other foot goes in, bat goes around, rested on my shoulder, and then into my stance.
