Meet Soccer Coach Alec K.! He is currently a professional soccer goalkeeper for the Chicago Fire and has plenty of wisdom and expertise. Coach Alec uses the drills and exercises that brought him success in his career to help young athletes improve their game.
Tell us about your experience playing and coaching soccer.
I played Division 1 soccer at Furman University and after I graduated began my professional playing career in the USL with the Charleston Battery. I played there for one season and then moved on to the Chicago Fire of MLS where I currently play. I began coaching individual sessions when I was in high school. I worked camps throughout college and began coaching a team after I finished school. I have been doing personal training since I moved to Chicago.
Why did you decide to become a private coach?
I feel that one-on-one training is the best way to develop a well-rounded player and instill the habits that can help a player improve in significant ways. Personally, my greatest strides as a player were made through either small group or individual sessions.
What do you enjoy most about coaching? Seeing a player get better each day that I work with them. I like to help young players develop confidence in their game.
What can a client expect from private lessons with you?
A well planned and thought out session that will leave a player tired but knowing that he or she improved that day.
What is your coaching style or philosophy?
I use drills that I have seen and experienced throughout my career in college and as a professional. I like to focus on technique because it is the most important aspect of improving as a young player.
What is your favorite moment in your athletic career?
My favorite moment was winning a state championship in high school. Although I moved on to play at higher levels, we had a very special team. Coach Alec is booking soccer sessions now! Click here to check out his profile.
