It may sound obvious, but coaches want to work with players who are coachable. The latest column about recruiting tips on USA Today High School Sports talks about a quality players might not think about but coaches notice. The column says most athletes start their career as coachable but it can change over time for some. Here are a few ways to stay coachable:

  • Be thankful someone will take the time to help you improve
  • Be open to honest feedback
  • Be willing to work hard
  • Be willing to change bad habits
  • Be humble

They sound easy, but next time you’re dealing with a coach, ask yourself if you are following these guidelines. These lessons are important in youth sports, but as the column states, they are still important as you progress in your athletic career.
